To the memory of Robert Theobald

RAPIDS OF CHANGE

Listen to Rapids of Change
performed by Karl Grossman

The River of Change flows ever on;
What's here today may soon be gone.
The River of Change runs fast and slow.
Still, some may not know about
          The Rapids of Change; Rapids of Change.

We're all adrift on the River of Change,
Through an unknown land ever new and strange.
Currents tell of Change to come;
The nearness of Change will frighten some, driftin' toward
          The Rapids of Change; Rapids of Change.

The roar is increasing; the sound strikes fear.
Ready or not, mates, the Rapids are near.
Gonna make this together or not at all.
Gotta pull together to clear the fall, approachin', oh, oh
          The Rapids of Change; Rapids of Change.

There's a way at the fork ahead.
Take the wrong branch; we're good as dead.
On we rush at a faster pace,
Destined for this dangerous race through
          The Rapids of Change; Rapids of Change.

Waves of Change crash around us.
Currents of Change encircle us all.
Boiling Change now surrounds us.
Bringing Change to one and all.

Students will teach, teachers will learn.
Things will be different beyond the turn.
Children and parents will have their way.
They'll work together and call it play, before we clear
          The Rapids of Change; Rapids of Change.

Friends can be lovers then friends once more;
Who knows what the future has in store?
The fiercest of foe will yet be friend
Before we reach the end of
          The Rapids of Change; Rapids of Change.

Religions, races, nations too,
Tumbling about like me and you.
Mother Earth, she's reelin' 'round,
And any time might go aground, consumed by
          The Rapids of Change; Rapids of Change.
          The Rapids of Change. Oh, The Rapids of Change.
